Fourth Blog: Food Photography
"I'm such a foodie."
How about you? Do you like eating delicious food? For me, just thinking about the gorgeous food I love makes me really happy. Also, I like to take a picture of the food I eat and keep them in my food album. Perhaps, I record the food I ate more enthusiastically than my daily life and mood. Taking a good photo of food isn't easy though. So, here are some tips for you to take food pictures that are genuinely appetizing.
1. Use natural light
Try to use natural light. In my case, I always sit at a table with good natural light to take good food photos. As natural light creates more color and contrasts, it will automatically make your food photos more appealing. Try it. It will be a life-changer.
2. Experiment with multiple angles
Experimenting with multiple angles is an important tip for all kinds of photography. Especially for food photography, trying to find the best angle that matches the food plating is essential. Move around your camera lens and study the composition.
3. Think of it as a portrait photo
It is good to focus on the subject and blur the background just like a portrait photo. I love to use portrait mode to take pictures of the food. It's an easy way to focus viewers' attention on the subject.
4. Edit your photos
In food photography, color is an important thing to consider. Edit your photos to make them appetizing. I also recommend experimenting with the temperature. Generally, increasing temperature adds on the warmth to make your food seems more delicious. However, it is important to understand you sometimes have to lower the temperature. Try to practice a lot with photo editing.
