Sixth Blog: Street Photography
"Look around."
This is what I want to tell you after writing five blogs of my own photography tips. Sometimes, the problem is more about 'what' to take a picture of than 'how' to take a picture. Maybe, this is because you don't look around that much. Easily assuming that everything is just the same and normal as usual, you might miss the little differences and uniqueness. Try to take a different perspective. It's nothing difficult. You just need to spend extra 5 seconds to find something new. Today, I want to give you my tips on street photography, where looking around is the very first step.
1. Get closer
Get closer to your subject. This is one of the most important tips I would like to give you to start street photography. Study its colors, shapes, and textures. You may find something new and interesting. Inspiration comes to those who pay attention and take time.
2. Use lights and shadows
Natural light always does a wonderful job for you to make your photos stand out. However, on the streets, you may find different kinds of lights with different shades. Shadows from different subjects are always fun to experiment with. Try to pick your favorite at the right moment.
3. Experiment with different angles
Taking different perspectives in street photography is important. Do not simply shoot from your eye level. Experiment with different angles and see what it feels like. Choose the angle that best suits the mood and story you would like to bring.
4. Look for colors or erase them
Streets are always full of vibrant colors. Sometimes, there is that color that stands out alone and makes you feel like you got to take a picture of it. On the other hand, there are also those moments where erasing the color actually makes your photo stand out better. It's the magic of monochrome. Try to think about which one is better for your work.
